Favourites from American Apparel

Over the past few weeks I have been lucky enough to welcome some new items into my ever growing collection of AA clothes and I would love to show you guys! American Apparel is definitely one of my favourite shops, mainly for the quality of their basics and how unique their prints are. However the high price range is a huge limiting factor for me... as I have to save up to buy at least one item at a time.

Here are my recent American Apparel favourites:

These are the Easy Jeans in Light Wash Indigo. I have instantly fallen in love with these because they are the perfect colour and are so comfortable. They are super stretchy so will adapt to fit most shapes. They really are Easy Jeans; easy to wear and easy to style!

Next up is the Lolita Crop in Thin White Grid on Black (they also do the reverse of this in white).

My favourite feature of this top is the open back because it will look really cute in the summer and allow you to show off some of your prettier bras/bandeaus (especially my Gilly Hicks ones) There is a matching skirt to go with this top and I will definitely be putting these two items on my wish-list.

I have the Nylon Tricot Figure Skater Dress in Flamingo print which is wonderful for summer and I will hopefully be investing in a few more prints in the future! I love the silky waterproof texture that they all have and I loved wearing mine over a bikini. The Flamingo print is so light and pretty...I adore the matching Flamingo print bikini too! My other favourite patterns are Rhymer blue, and Leopard.

Everyone always comments on the Jungle leaves print Sleeveless Crop Top that I haveI really love the print and shape of this top, and there are so many other colours and patterns available which I have yet to buy. This top goes with everything from jeans for a casual look, to a black skirt for the evening.

Recently American Apparel Tennis Skirts have been a favourite of mine even though I don't yet own one. I have seen them on many people, including Rihanna.

Today I visited the American Apparel on oxford street for a quick look and I couldn't help but try some of the tennis skirts on to see what all the fuss is about! They definitely made me want to buy one even more! I LOVE the wide colour selection on offer; from peachy pastels (which scream summer) to blood-warm maroons (perfect for the winter)… it is almost too hard to pick one! However at a costly £46.00 per skirt, I will unfortunately have to save up to get my hands on one.

Another reason why I adore this skirt is because it never goes out of season. I want them all because they're just so versatile. They look great with tights and a jumper for winter, and equally good with a crop top for spring/summer. They are so comfortable and I also think they're extremely flattering.

I'd love to know what your opinions are on this skirt? Do you like American Apparel… what are your fave items?

Raw vegan nutty miracle salad with tuna steak and sun dried tomato hummus.

I love to blog about all my interests... and one of my interests that I haven't blogged much about is cooking and food. I love to create fun, and vibrant recipes which are full of flavour. This is exactly what you think it is: a big, hearty, generous, and delicious nutty salad. It features avocado, tomatoes, brown whole wheat giant couscous, spinach leaves, fennel, walnuts.  This raw salad is excellent (high in essential fats and vitamins to give you that gorgeous healthy glow). You can add any type of vegetables  to this dish and works perfectly with a fresh tuna steak (my fave) and a dollop of homemade sundried tomato hummus.

I also really love to mix marinated kale into this salad with sweet juicy pomegranates and a sprinkling of crunchy sunflower seeds to create a sweet crunch to the dish – I add in roasted squash or sweet potato, toasted cashews or some quinoa to make it more of a hearty warming meal.

Kale is a seriously delicious superfood... containing more calcium than milk per calorie and a lot of iron!  In addition, it contains vitamin K intake ( important blood sugar regulation),  vitamin A and vitamin C intake (both of which support bone and skin health, as well as strengthening the immune system). If this wasn’t enough it’s also packed with antioxidants, anti-inflammatory agents, omega-3 fatty acids and fibre. I always love to mix kale in with some steamed veg or roast it under the grill with a drizzle of coconut oil for that perfect crunch.

For the superfood bowl:

- 5 big handfuls of kale (it shrinks a lot when cooked)
- 1 red pepper
- handful of walnuts, cashews, pumpkin seeds, edamame beans
- sprinkle of chia seeds
- 1 avocado
- 1  carrot
- spinach leaves
- a large dollop of homemade sundried tomato hummus
- slices of fennel, cucumber, strawberries and beetroot
- brown wholewheat giant couscous or quinoa

For the Dressing:

- teaspoon of manuka honey
- half a lemon and lime
- 1 teaspoon of almond butter
- 1/2 a teaspoon of tahini

For the sundried tomato hummus:

- 1 can of chickpeas (I used a 15 ounce tin) drained and rinsed
- 2 large handfuls of sundried tomatoes
- 3 tablespoons of water
- 1/4 teaspoon of smoked paprika
- The juice of 1 and 1/2 juicy lemons
- 2 teaspoons of tahini
- 1 small garlic clove
- salt to taste

Directions:
  1. Add all the veg, wholewheat couscous into a large bowl.
  2. Fry the tuna steak in a pan with a teaspoon of coconut oil. Season to taste.
  3. Finally place the succulent tuna steak with a slice of lemon on top of your salad.
  4.  Layer on your desired toppings, drizzle on the dressing and a large dollop of my healthy sundried tomato hummus for the perfect warming dish.
  5. Add sweet potato fries  or roast butternut squash if you like!

I must admit, this dish is so easy and simple to make and it is packed full of vitamins and minerals to keep your hair skin and nails healthy and glowing. I just LOVE it and I hope you like it too.

Please let me know what you think of this recipe! I will be putting up more soon.

What I love about this beautiful British brand is that it draws inspiration from traveling all over the world; Orelia's jewellery compliment each other and I often wear two or three of their necklaces together for a boho and feminine look. Every season brings new and exciting designs: all delicate, and dainty.

I was amazed to find such beautiful pieces of jewellery that are more than perfect for winter especially the little blue stone which I just adore!!

My Favourite Winter Coats 2014

A winter coat is definitely the staple in any wardrobe…. and this year I've been overwhelmed with choice.  From furs to leather, from pastels to neutrals, this seasons coats are looking extremely good! With the temperatures dropping, what a perfect excuse to update your coat collection and wrap up stylishly in the chilly weather.
Personally, I think that a coat with a pair of biker boots and a cool bag will make any one of us walk out the house, as if we’re rocking a catwalk. I like to throw in a thick wooly snood, gloves or maybe a beanie for the ultimate stylish winter look.

Bourjois' Smoky Stories Quad Palettes and Color Edition 24Hr Cream Eyeshadow

If you've read my last post on Bourjois AMAZING #24hrpartyready Event, then you'll know that i promised to give a review on some of Bourjois latest products. Unless this is your first visit to Nicole’s Allsorts blog (and in that case you have some serious explaining to do) you will know that smoky eyes are totally my thing…so you can imagine how I excited I was to see Bourjois’ beautiful Smoky Stories Quad eyeshadows at their #24hrpartyready event last week.

The Bourjois Smoky Stories Quad Eyeshadow Palettes contain three matte colours; all of these shades have a lovely, soft satin cream to powder finish, plus an additional ‘light touch’ shade, which I like to use as a highlighter (giving off a cute bright and sparkly effect that make your eyes pop!) Here are some of the shades:

Rock this khaki, I love blue, Upside brown, Over rose, Good nude, In mauve again, Ocean obsession, and Grey and night

I love all of the eight shades ( Upside Down brown is my fave!) as they are easy to apply and blend with minimal fall-out, and I find that they also have great pigmentation. Shades include a couple of blue’s, purple, rose gold (which works perfectly for a sweet, natural day time look), brown neutrals, greys and khaki green. I must admit… I adore choosing a different Quad Palette to match the colours of my outfits!

Each of the quads comprises of four eye shadow-prime, shadow, define and highlight. The eye shadows are incredibly soft and not too powdery, and I find that it also works well if you apply the shades wet to you eyelids! I love the shades 05 Good Nude and 06 Upside Brown, which I use often individually, but the colours in both these palettes also work amazingly well together, and are a dream to blend.

The makeup artist smoked up my eyes with these gorgeous Quad Palettes in shade Grey and Night. To my delight, I was very pleased to see that Bourjois had just released two new shades in their Color Edition 24Hr Eyeshadow collection.

The Color Edition 24Hr Cream Eyeshadows has been introduced as a" new generation cream-to-powder formula”. The fine and silky soft cream colour turns into powder upon the contact with the skin leaving you with a luxurious, silky feel.

I adore the wonderful luminous finish that these cream shadows create, to give a fantastic metallic sheen and an intense colour that lasts 24 hrs. Personally, I think that all the shades work well separately and together… I adore blending and building up the silvery and rose cream shades together, to give a softer, more natural glow to my eyes…perfect for Christmas and New Year party wear.  For a more intense night time look, I'd suggest building Prune Nocturne or any of the darker shades up some more, or using these as a base before applying powder eyeshadow on top.

Shades  Plum Purple Prune Nocturne*, and Pétale de Glace* - a dusky rose with mauve undertones. For £6.99, these are a steal!

I really like the two new shades, as they are perfect colours for the festive season and would be a great gift for christmas stockings. I recommend you have a look at the other colours in the Color Edition 24Hr Eyeshadow range. The golden shade, Désir, is the stand out shade for me with flawless pigmentation, and I find also works well for a warmer smoky eye.

Bourjois' Smoky Stories Quad Palettes and Color Edition 24Hr Cream Eyeshadows are all available at Boots, Superdrug, Asos and Beauty Mart.
